The Maze Runner (Maze Runner Series #1) (Maze Runner Trilogy, Book 1)

What a "klunking" ending. One of the better ones out there. I love (being sarcastic) how the author incorporated slang words that are actually cuss-words into the book. (Parents. Pay attention to what your children read) Yeah. there are worse thing on television, but it's still not cool. Especially when they are saying them on every page.
Anyhoo, the main character, Thomas, was sent to this place/compound called The Glade, with no memory of who he is, where children (they can't remember either) live, thrive, and try to find a way out of this place "the Creators" have sent them. Outside of the walls of the Glade is the maze, where creatures lurk, and hopefully, a way for them to get out.
The author worked too hard at making everything a mystery to the point where Thomas is pretty much told to shut up and stayed confused about everything for the majority of the beginning of the book.
I can't say I like Thomas as a character, and some of the others were not developed very well.
However, the idea for this read is a great one and at moments this read had 5 star potential. The pacing was off as the middle of the book was used as a "talk it out" section.
I don't know if it was just me, but the creatures sounded kind of lame after we were told it looked like a cow. Totally messed the horror factor up for me. HINT. Let the readers come up with how the monsters look with their own imagination.
Still, my interest is piqued, therefore I will continue to the next one.
