Started out good and then went into slumps-ville and stayed there while the 3 main characters bantered and played Scooby-doo without the capture of the bad guy. A integral part of this book was under-developed. Tobias, the vampire liaison who left Nix, a demon/ human, due to Nix's demon coming out was not a very like-able character. He thought he could protect her from herself by leaving. Any-hoo. He' back. Nix is mad at him for having left and her demon comes out when she is around him. She keeps seeking his approval in a "daddy" type of way which messed up the whole romance for me. Dante, a human detective, that works with Nix is a close bud. (Tobias is jealous of their easy-going nature) He digs her, but she shoots him down. In the background of this trio is a case that has preternaturals turning up dead. That's the jist of it. It was just an alright/okay read.
