Wicked as They Come (Blud)

I'm very stingy with my stars, but this read is so different, so original, that the thing that normally irritates me ( damsel in distress crying) was easily over-looked by the world building and other characters. This read felt very gothic to me, A modern Anne Rice-ish tale of love, adventure, hauntings, and danger. The romance is always lurking, just not prominent which I didn't mind in the least. I did feel like the story slowed down in the last quarter when the bad guy was being chased and Criminy and Let we're forever arriving late to the scene. Not a fast paced read, but steady. Over-all this was a really great read that I highly recommend for those who want try something new.
