Dire Needs: A Novel of the Eternal Wolf Clan

Dire Needs - Stephanie Tyler 2.75 Star
I wavered between 2-3 and 4 stars. Crazy, I know. But I'll try to explain. The dire wolves concept is great. The over-all story is great. The story-telling, however, was all over the place. ADHD writer. One minute they would be sexing, then dreamwalking, then fighting and talking, then partying. All in one chapter. It was hectic and maybe too much was shoved into this read. One thing that got on my nerves is that the wolves were constantly slamming each other down, throwing each other into walls, and choking the shit out of each other which was over the top. The history, dream walking, and inner thoughts, took up a lot space in this story. The elders, the seizures Gwen had, the things the Dires have been through in the last odd-many years, and the witches were repeated and could be easily skimmed. I kid you not. You can read the first 1 or 2 chapters and skip a good hundred pages and be up to date on what's going down. That is not a good thing and why I thought this was just a 2 star read, but then I really liked the characters; Vice, Stray, Rift, the twins, and even Harm. On the whole Tyler seems adept a weaving a good plot driven story, but really lacks in deeper, more characterization and romance. She caught me though, because I want to know more of Kill.
