Crazy that I've had this read since the week it was released and yet I kept putting it to the side for in my experience Fantasy ends up one of two ways for me normally: too much world building with no actual progression of the story or when romance/love/lust over-power the fantastical. This read tended to drag too much on the taming of Ayden and Freyrik's lust for the elf. I really wanted to know more of the war, the players, and feel the sense of doom from the humans since I was convinced that that was why they were enemies in the first place. To me, even though it didn't end in a HEA, this book read more like a romance, albeit a dark one, which overshadowed the fantasy. A really good job~
